President Fed. Cup: Whyte Ogbonda Ends Trophy-less Managerial Run As Rivers Angels Edge Naija Ratels

Multiple times Federation Cup winners, Rivers Angels have added a ninth laurel to their trophies after edging out first time finalists Naija Ratels in a nervy 1-0 tie at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

This endearing conquest ends head coach Whyte Ogbonda’s trophyless managerial run after an agonizing 2023/24 NWFL season where they missed out of the crown by just a point to Edo Queens.

Attended by a lot of dignitaries of the Nigeria Football (NFF), the tie lived up to expectations as both sides cautiously exchanged strings of passes while keeping a watchful eye on one another.

Andy Okpe’s strike from the penalty spot just minutes before the end of the first half after Naija Ratels defender handed the ball with her hand was enough for Rivers Angels to win the game in front of a roaring crowd.

Second half resumption saw Naija Ratels FC press harder for a goal of those own, but a resilient Rivers Angels stood the test of time nine times champions.

Up next is the game between Abia Warriors FC and recently promoted El Kanemi Warriors in the Men’s Federation Cup final.
