FIFA have announced officials for the round-16 games of the ongoing FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup with US trio of Natalie Simon (referee), Meghan Mullen and Kali Smith (assistants) set to officiate Falconets tie against Japan.
Uruguayan Anahí Fernández has been selected as the fourth official for the September 12 encounter.
With Football Video Support (VS) being trialed at the tournament, a total of 58 female match officials will be taking charge of the crucial games in Colombia between September 11 and 12.
Meanwhile, on September 11, the match between defending champions Spain and Canada in Cali will be officiated by Hyeonjeong Oh (Korea Republic), assisted by compatriot Kyoungmin Kim and Supawan Hinthong (Thailand), with Vincentia Amedome (Togo) serving as the fourth official.
The following game on the double bill at the Pascual Guerrero stadium, between hosts Colombia and Korea Republic, will be officiated by the Spanish trio of Marta Huerta (referee), Guadalupe Porras, and Eliana Fernández (assistants), with Lizzet García of Mexico as the fourth official.
Christopher Danjuma’s led side will be hoping to get past the tricky Japanese opponent for a place in the last 8 as they eye an historic title triumph.
