NWFL Championship: “Next Fight Is For Survival” – Samuel Salako Discloses

Samuel Salako

Head coach of Castmog Ladies Samuel Salako has revealed that the team’s next focus is ensuring their Championship status after falling to a second defeat at the ongoing 2024/25 NWFL Championship at Calabar.

Having lost their first game to First Mahi Babes, they bounced back with a deserved 2-0 victory against Heores Queens, losing their third game narrowly to host Pelican Stars.

The loss rules them out of a Premiership promotion battle hence the need to maintain their status in the NWFL second tier football.

“It’s a league game and you can see that they are young girls with no league experience. They are growing and coming up well, we believe in the process and we know they will do better in the future”, Samuel Salako posited in his post game pressers.

Speaking further on how close they were to getting a point from the clash, he stated: “The game was in our hands but you can see the officiating, some glaring decisions that went against us but you can see that the half time pep talk really gave us an edge to come back into the game but it wasn’t meant to be”.

“The next thing to look out for is to stay in Championship and not to relegate. These girls will come back stronger”, her vowed.

First Mahi Babes will now take on Heroes Queens FC who are yet to register a goal and a point so far in two games played.
