Finally Heroes Queens have ended their goal drought of the ongoing 2024/25 NWFL Championship all thanks to Flamingos invitee Bolarinwa Aishat who scored a brilliant goal against First Mahi Babes.
Having played a total of 3 games and conceded 12, the Championship debutants who have been without a goal of their own in the past two games were able to break the dreadlock and it was a good moment for the young team, holding nothing back during their celebrations.
“I’m so happy to score for my team because it’s been a hard time for us in this competition, not the best of outing we would have wished for and it’s so painful”, a delighted Aishat Bolarinwa admitted.
Heroes Queens goal drought came to an end after the lethal striker gleefully drops her maker, taking a low shot into the right hand side of the goalpost, beyond the reach of the goalkeeper and into the net.
Despite the goal which means so much to her and her joyous teammates who celebrated with her, they ran out eventual losers, 3-1 to First Mahi.
On her national team inclusion: “I’m so happy. I have never thought this opportunity would come for me at this time”.
“I would be joining up with the team after this competition and beyond what and how I have been able to perform here, I want to go there and do more, fight for my place in the team because it’s so competitive over there and you can’t afford to lose your footing”.
“Now, I want to score more goals in this competition”, she said.
Heroes Queens will now have to play for relegation in bid to ensure their second tier Championship status.
