NPFL 24 – Kennedy Boboye’s Rescue Mission Activated With Heartland FC

Heartland FC management in bid to change the dwindling fortunes of the team in the ongoing 2023/24 Nigeria Premier Football League season has appointed the tactician as new Technical Adviser, Speedysports can confirm.

The five times NPFL champions who are yet to pick a win in nine games this season releases Christian Obi from his duties with his last game been the 1-1 draw against Sporting Lagos on Sunday.

The club posted on their X handle – “We are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with two-time NPFL winning coach Kennedy Boboye. He takes charge of the club’s technical team with immediate effect on a 1-year deal with an option of a renewal”.

Kenndy Boboye, two times NPFL champion with Plateau United (2017) and Akwa United (2021) was without a job prior to this appointment.

He has signed a one year renewable contract with the Naze Millionaires has come to the Owerri side with the impeccable record of winning the league title twice with .

The former Remo Stars gaffer’s first target will be to ensure Heartland FC start winning their league games from the weekend blockbuster Oriental derby tie with Enyimba in Owerri and Boboye in his first interview with Heartland FC Media said he is aware of the enormity of the task before him.

“I am ready for the task. I had different thoughts when I was contacted initially because of the club’s position on the league table but with what I have seen on ground I am certain we can pull through”, Boboye told Heartland FC Media.

“We need everyone to get to work. You are going to be seeing a new mentality in the team. The players have assured there would be changes and I am excited to be here”.

In the other shake up in the team, Charles Uzor has been elevated to the position of the Head Coach as Willie Udube’s replacement.

Also, Osuorji Linus Maduabuchi is now the new team manager as he was the club’s assistant team manager before the new change. He is replacing Victor Ezuruike who has been redeployed to the club’s feeder team.

The head coach of the Heartland FC Feeder team, Chidi Ike has been sent to the Heartland FC main team to also fortify the technical crew.
