Super Eagles of Nigeria and Napoli forward Victor Osimhen has finished eighth in the Ballon d’Or rankings, the highest top finish for the defending Serie A champions and the highest for a Nigerian player all in one night.
The 24-year-old netted 31 goals and provided five assists in 39 appearances to help Napoli clinch the Serie A title in thirty-three (33) years.
In that same season, Napoli also reached the Champions League quarter-finals stage last which is unarguably the best result for the Partenopei in Europe’s elite competition with Osimhen playing a significant role in that run.
Osimhen netted five times in six Champions League games last season coupled with remarkable individual achievements as combined with Napoli’s results which have allowed the 24-year-old to earn a spot in the top.
