International Women’s Day: “My Medal Is Dedicated To All The Hardworking Women Out There” – Offiong Edem

Offiong Edem, Nigeria table tennis player and the first athlete to win a medal for the country at the ongoing All African Games 2023 has spoken on her victory while making it to the semi finals to claim bronze.

Edem while speaking to Speedysports.ng dedicated her victory and medal to every hardworking woman on the occasion of the celebration of the International Women’s day

“I feel so overwhelmed being the first person to win the bronze medal for Nigeria at the African Games, it was a great feeling getting to the semi-final because it’s quite tough now, players are coming up, table tennis has changed so much”.

“Overall, I’m proud of myself for getting to the semi-final. It’s a thing of joy and I dedicate this moment and my medal to all the hardworking, brave women out there”.

On what we should expect from her going forward: “We still have doubles and mixed doubles and I believe something good will come out from there hopefully”.

“We will do our best because it’s all about what one can achieve. We are going to fight, me and my partner and hopefully we are going to get the medal”, she assured.
