Ifeoma Onumonu Makes Historic Move To Montpellier Herault SC

Arkema Première Ligue side MHSC have officially confirmed the signing of Super Falcons forward Ifeoma Onumonu following the mutual contract termination with Utah Royals FC.

The team which comprises primarily of promising young attackers (Esther Mbakem Niaro, 22, Nina Ngueleu, 20, Lola Gstalter, 19, and Elisa Rambaud, 18) have now been boosted with the addition of the seasoned veteran to complement their talent.

Ifeoma Onumonu thereby makes history by becoming the first Nigerian women football player to represent the French outfit.

Having played in USA all her life, Onumonu is embarking on a new adventure, making her European football debut with MHSC.

Speaking to the club Media after her unveiling, the 30 year old forward posited;

“I am very happy to be here today. I am impatient to discover my new club and this new living environment”.

“I needed a change. I have played in the USA for my entire career and club so far and I had in the back of my mind the desire to discover European football. When this opportunity presented itself, here in Montpellier, I didn’t hesitate”, she added.

Club president Laurent Nicollin is optimistic that she can hit the ground running as soon as possible despite it been a new environment.
