The TotalEnergies 2023 TotalEnergies 2023 AFCON which is set to take place in Côte d’Ivoire has recieved major boost after the winner’s award increasement by 40%, according to a statement from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The 34th edition of the biggest athletic competition held in Africa will award a prize of $7,000,000 USD to the victor.
A total of $4,000,000 USD will be awarded to the CAN CAF TotalEnergies Côte d’Ivoire 2023 finalist. USD 2,500,000 will be awarded to each semifinalist and USD 1,300,000 to each of the four quarterfinalists.
“CAF has made significant progress over the past two years in increasing the prize money for the AFCON and all of its other major competitions,” stated Dr. Patrice Motsepe, President of CAF.
“In comparison to the previous AFCON, the prize money for the winner of the current one has grown to USD 7,000,000, a 40% increase”.
“I have no doubt that a portion of this money will aid in the growth of football, benefit all parties involved, and support the administrative efforts of our member associations”.
Cameroon, The Gambia and Namibia were the last three African National Teams to secure their place in the biggest football competition on the African Continent.
The 24 National Teams that have qualified for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Côte d’Ivoire 2023 are: Côte d’Ivoire, Algeria, Angola, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, DR Congo, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, The Gambia, Tunisia and Zambia.
The TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations is the most popular Event in Africa; the 2021 Event in Cameroon attracted over 500 million TV audiences in approximately 170 countries worldwide.
