Findi Vs Osimhen Saga: Victor Osimhen Lash Out Over Claims Of Boycotting National Team Duty

Victor Osimhen

Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has lashed out at circulating claims of him deliberately boycotting the national team duty after the team failed to beat South Africa and Benin Republic in the 2026 FWC qualifiers.

A visibly angry figure on his Instagram live stream, the disgruntled Napoli forward explained his absence from the Super Eagles 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic, revealing that the head coach as at the time knew about his situation.

“I went to Germany to see my child, after that I went for an MRI and immediately I did the MRI, the next day, the doctor called and I went to his office. I called Finidi immediately and he was on the phone, I told one of my guys to do video of me and the doctor while speaking to Finidi cause I knew issues like this might come up”.

“I have the video of me and the doctor which I will post it on my story when the live is done. I don’t address issues, I let everyone believe whatever it is they want to believe about me. Everyone knows that if I play for club side or Nigeria, I always play my heart out with care of what anyone would say”.

“For me, I do what I’m supposed to do and let everything go but I won’t allow that disrespect from anybody because I give respect before any disrespect, I won’t allow any nonsense or rubbish put stain on my name”.

I have kept quiet enough and a lot of people went to bring stupid agenda, Osimhen this, Osimhen that, not wanting my name to rest in your mouths, I won’t allow that,” he retorted in visible annoyance.

It has also been widely reported that head coach Finidi George had some complaints of indiscipline in the national team with some players coming late and being unruly, in the heat of all this following the NFF executive meeting where they revealed that they will employ a technical expatriate for the NT, the former Enyimba Int’l FC manager has reportedly put in his resignation letter.
