African Games: Oburududu Plays Down Level Of Competition Following Gold Medal Triumph 

Nigeria swept all the available gold medals in the women freestyle wrestling at the ongoing African Games in Ghana.

Six gold medals from a possible six is a laudable feet from the Nigerian women led by Blessing Oburududu and Odunayo Adekuoroye.

Oburududu competed and strolled to victory in the 68KG and the fifteen time continental champion played down the level of his oppositions.

“I don’t think it’s a tough one.” She said when asked how tough it was coming back to claim victory as revealed by our correspondent Olaleye Oluwadamilola.

Speaking on the victory she said: “I feel so proud of myself coming to this African Games to be able to maintain my position.”

My plan was not to give away any point but unfortunately it happened, but I give God all the glory for the victory.” She added.

The veteran went on to commend Daniel Ighali who is the wrestling federation president as well as her coaches who contributed to the victory.

The 34 year old also talked about her next targets being the African Championships and the Olympic qualifiers.

Meanwhile, Kolawole Esther was also on hand to express her feelings after wining good on her African Games debut.

“I’m so happy because it’s my first African Games here in Ghana. It’s history making that I’m able to deliver a gold medal for Team Nigeria which gives me a lot of happiness.” Kolawole Esther, gold medalist in the 62KG category.

“The next step for me is to qualify for the Olympics and also to go for a win in Paris later this year.” She said of her next target.
