Inter Miami have officially announced the capture of Federico Redondo from Argentinos Juniors.
The 21 year old son of Real Madrid great Fernando has put pen to paper on a on a three year deal with the option for another year.
“We have officially signed Argentine U-23 National Team defensive midfielder Federico Redondo to a contract running through the 2027 MLS season, with a Club option for 2028. The midfielder joins the Club as a U22 Initiative player, pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 Visa.” Announced the club via their official website.
“We’re pleased to bring an exciting young midfielder like Federico to Inter Miami. He’s a very promising player who is sharp with the ball at his feet, and shows awareness out of possession. We believe in his potential, but also feel he will immediately be a strong addition to our squad as we look to build on our successes in 2024.” said Chris Henderson, Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director.
The player himself expressed satisfaction at completing the switch to the Major League Soccer side.
“I’m very happy to join a Club that is growing so much. It’s a great opportunity to share the pitch with top players,” said Redondo. “I’m looking forward to integrating in the group with my teammates. We have to go step by step but always dream big.” He said at his unveiling.
Redondo made 58 appearances for his boyhood club scoring two goals and registering two assists.
He was born in Spain but has appeared for Argentina at U-20 and U-23 levels.
According to Italian football journalist Nicolo Schira, the deal was said to cost in the region of €7.5m.
