NWFL – Heartland Queens Shot-stoppers’ Confident Ahead Of Premiership Opener

Heartland Queens’ new netminders, Cynthia Akwasi and Uchenna Chukwu are in a buoyant mood ahead of the 2023/2024 NWFL Premiership kick starter against visitors, Royal Queens.

The evenly matched jump ball comes up on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at the main bowl of Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerrri.

The new imports spoke to Heartland Queens Media on Thursday at the side’s training ground in Ndegwu that they are mindful of the Owerri Landladies laudable benchmark for the season and are ever ready to contribute their own quota towards the realisation of the lofty dreams.

“We are ready for the league and we are coming out victorious because of our trainings and fitness level. I know come on Wednesday we will deliver the goods and we are winning very well the starter match against Royal Queens.

“We are not going to struggle this term both home and away matches, I believe our impact with Heartland Queens will not be a failure but a successful one,” said Akwasi.

Akwasi promised a clean slate in the commencement match against the Warri-based side and subsequent matches on the calendar.

“I will be proud to be among the players that would be lined up for the game on Wednesday, and I will do my very best to earn a stand up ovation.

“Of course, it will be a clean slate match, not only that one but others coming up later and that is my target,” enthused the former Adamawa Queens goaltender.

Queuing behind fellow goalie optimism, Chukwu stated that their impacts will help greatly to the realisation of the team’s set target for the season.

“To win the match on Wednesday, that’s what is going on my mind right now, three points and nothing else.

“It’s going to be a clean sheet match on that day, I’m bringing to the team victory and winning. And my aim is to see Heartland Queens in their first ever Super Six,” said the former Nasarawa Amazons goaltender.

The Owerri side will kick-off their NWFL season’s dreams and title contest against known foes, Royal Queens on Wednesday at their hallowed ground, Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.
