“Give Amunike, Finidi, Agu the Super Eagles job” – Waidi Akanni To NFF

Waidi Akanni

Former Super Eagles star player Engr. Waidi Akanni, has advised the Nigeria Football Federation to look inwards to Nigeria football ecosystem, particularly, former Nigerian players and coaches for the exalted Super Eagles coaching job.

Speaking with journalists in Lagos recently on the  contentious Super Eagles job, Akanni opined that what the present Super Eagles team needs are trust, competence and top quality team leadership. These, he stated are inherent in some former Nigeria players, particularly, the trio of Emmanuel Amunike, Finidi George and Alloy Agu.

Waidi Akanni went ahead to advise the NFF not to look any further than the home front, for the next Super Eagles coach.

“Nigeria is blessed with several former players who have transmuted to qualify coaches in their own rights”.

“At this crucial period and with weeks away from Nigeria’s World Cup and AFCON qualification matches, the Super Eagles needs a local coach with experience as former players of the team”.

“I want to tell you confidently that with Amunike, Finidi and Agu, the Super Eagles, shall fly higher again and qualify for the continental and global championships,” Waidi Akanni, a former Lagos FA boss remarked.
