Chelsea Dealt Another Nkunku Injury Blow

Chelsea

Christopher Nkunku has picked up another injury and will be out for up to three weeks confirmed Chelsea coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Mauricio Pochettino seemed frustrated when addressing the Frenchman’s latest setback during his pre match press conference ahead of the FA Cup tie against Leeds United.

The 26 year old cost Chelsea circa €60m in the summer but has struggled to stay fit since his big money arrival.

The French international has only featured sparingly for The Blues making just ten appearances in all competitions with two goals scored in those games.

He has only played 396 minutes of football and just two starts for Chelsea which is a far cry from the value of the investment the West Londoners made on him.

“We heard yesterday that Chris Nkunku got injured, but we don’t know when he got injured.” The coach said disappointingly.

“He’s undergoing medical assessment”.

“At the moment, three-four weeks out for Chris. I hope. I hope no more….”

“It’s difficult for Chris as he was flying in pre-season before he got the knee injury. We need to see and evaluate.” He concluded.

Chelsea lost the League Cup final to Liverpool on Sunday but will have the opportunity to put that behind them when they host Leeds United on Wednesday.
