A Nigerian ex international has revealed that the NFF wanted a foreign coach before settling for the appointment of Finidi George.
Enyimba International manager and assistant coach to the sacked Jose Peseiro, Finidi George has recently been named the new coach of the Super Eagles.
The former Super Eagles winger becomes the first indigenous coach since Sunday Oliseh in 2016.
However, a former teammate of the new Super Eagles handler and member of the NFF Technical Committee Victor Ikpeba has revealed while speaking to Brila FM that the football federation initially wanted a foreign coach.
“I want to congratulate Finidi George on his appointment as the Super Eagles coach.” He began
“It was however a difficult task because we initially wanted a foreign manager.” Said Ikpeba on the appointment.
Finidi George is a Super Eagles legend himself and understands what ur means to represent the country in any capacity.
His appointment follows the dismissal of Jose Peseiro after Nigeria’s silver medal finish at the last AFCON in Ivory Coast.
