NBA star Victor Wembanyama’s debut San Antonio Spurs jersey has racked in more than six times of its pre-sale estimate as it was sold for $762k during auction in big value to the as French star.
The supposed bidder paid a high-six figures to purchase Wembanyama’s white, silver and black No. 1 jersey from the game to capture the piece of sporting history as Victor Wembanyama scored 15 points in his NBA debut despite suffering a 126-119 loss to the Mavs on October 25.
Initially, the jersey was estimated to cost $100,000 although that figure was comfortably blown away as 62 bids were levied druing the auction which was held by Sotheby’s.
It saw a total of $1.2million in sales and more than 60 game-worn NBA jerseys purchased.
Lakers star man LeBron James jersey from the Lakers’ first game this season against the Nuggets sold for $50,800, while Damian Lillard’s jersey from his Bucks debut netted $30,480 plus a uniform worn by Hornets’ No. 3 overall pick Brandon Miller on his pro debut also fetched $27,940.
