Confluence Queens winger, Mamudu Mary has given an honest assessment of the team following the NWFL Super 6 opening day loss against Edo Queens at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenogoa, Bayelsa.
Sabo Okala led side were pummeled 1-5 against an angry Edo Queens who sought revenge following events in the 2022/23 Super 6 campaign in Delta, Asaba.
Speaking after the game, a disgruntled Mary conceded that they were far from thier best.
“I feel bad and I’m not happy at all, now the focus is on our next game, we need to go all out if we want to have any chance in this competition, it’s a big unfortunate loss”.
Assessing her performance of one of the bright of the team, the winger who is in her second season with the club admitted that she was far from her best.
“It wasn’t a good performance from me, today is one of those days that the who team wouldn’t perform well, personally this isn’t my level of outing”.
“We didn’t play to the game plan, this isn’t Confluence Queens, this isn’t my club that I know but it’s not all ended, we will try and do well for the next game”, she admitted.
Mary also hinted at a potential reason for the defeat. “The absence of our first-choice goalkeeper definitely impacted our performance,” she revealed. “We’ll have to find solutions moving forward.”
Looking ahead, Mary stays focused on her personal goals. “The race for the golden boot is still on,” she declared, despite not scoring in the first match.
