Edwin Nwakanma has been assured by Heartland FC Management that he will get the best of treatment that will help fasten his recovery and return to football.
Nwakanma, a former goalkeeper of Abia Warriors suffered a horrific injury while in training on Thursday in a collision between him and his teammate and he was promptly sent to the hospital to ensure he was well taken care of.
The Naze Millionaires’ General Manager, Promise Nwachukwu opined that he was devastated witnessing the injury but he confirmed that Edwin Nwakanma was immediately rushed to an orthopedic hospital where necessary scans and tests have been booked to ensure he is ready for the surgery.
“It was a sad event to behold but we have everything firmly under control and the goalkeeper is being attended to promptly,” Nwachukwu told the Heartland FC Media.
“Immediately the incident took place, he was rushed to the hospital where necessary tests and scans have been earmarked before the surgery which will take place in no due time.
“Our prayers and thoughts are with him at this point in time. We wish him a speedy recovery.”
Speaking in the same vein, Heartland FC General Coordinator, Casmir Mbachu has disclosed that one of the best Orthopedic surgeon in Imo State and his team are attending to Nwakanma and all expenses would be paid by the Imo State Government through the Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development, Honourable Emeka Okoronkwo.
He said Nwakanma would have the surgery in the coming days after the conclusion of the tests and scans on the affected leg and that by two to three months he should commence his rehabilitation in the gymnasium.
“The Government of Imo State, through the Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development, Honourable Emeka Okoronkwo will borne the total cost of the surgery and ensure that Nwakanma bounces back from the injury in no time,” Mbachu, a former player of Iwuanyanwu Nationale told Heartland FC Media.
“He has been handed over to an orthopedic surgeon and necessary steps have been put in place for him to have the surgery almost immediately.”
