The stage is set for a star-studded affair at the CAF African Schools Football Championship Finals in Zanzibar, taking place from May 21st to 24th, 2024 as Daniel Amokachi leads other African stars to grace the event.
Joining the talented young footballers will be African football royalty: Emmanuel Adebayor, Daniel Amokachi, the newly appointed assistant coach of Super Eagles, and Amanda Dlamini of South Africa.
This championship, involving over 44 African nations and 800,000 participants under 15 (boys and girls), is a breeding ground for future stars. It goes beyond the pitch, fostering initiatives like the Young Referee’s Programme, Young Reporter Programme, and Safeguarding.
Legendary Inspiration:
Emmanuel Adebayor: The 2008 CAF Player of the Year, Adebayor proudly represented Togo in their only World Cup appearance (2006). He boasts a decorated club career with spells at Arsenal, Manchester City, and Real Madrid.
Daniel Amokachi: A Nigerian icon with 42 international caps, Amokachi was instrumental in the Super Eagles’ victories at the 1994 AFCON and 1996 Olympics. He also participated in the 1994 and 1998 World Cups.
Amanda Dlamini: A South African legend, Dlamini captained the Banyana Banyana and holds the rare feat of exceeding 100 caps. She shattered another barrier as the first female commentator on the global feed for the 2023 AFCON.
These icons, alongside Tanzanian heroes Abdi Kassim Sadalla (former captain) and Hilda Masanche (U17 Women’s National Team coach), will participate in activities that inspire and uplift the young players.
