CAFCL, CAFCC: Participating Clubs’ Set For USD 50,000 Financial Boost From CAF

In big boost to participating clubs in the CAF continental competitions (TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and TotalEnergies CAF Confederations Cup), African football governing body, CAF has announced a USD 50,000 financial boost as part of their commitment to promote football in Africa.

The development which has since garnered applause is an initiative of Dr Patrice Motsepe’s, CAF’s President who has promised to improve club competitions and provide more financial assistance to clubs.

Notably, this is a newly birthed effort from CAF as they look to offer financial assistance to clubs in this stage of the Competition although, teams needed to reach the group stages to be eligible to share the overall prize money in previous competitions.

As earlier communicated, the the first preliminary games begins with first leg matches that is set to kick off today, 16th August, followed by return legs from 23-25 August 2024.

With group stage places at stake, the second preliminary round tie will take place in September.

Nigerian quartet: Enugu Rangers, Remo Stars SC, El-Kanemi Warriors, and Enyimba FC are set to be beneficiaries of this new development having qualified for the 2024/25 continental competition.
