NPFL ( Nigeria Professional Premier League) body have today sealed a 5-year mega television deal with Startimes as they look to give the league a wider and global coverage.
As revealed, the price for First season (2023/24) is 1.06billion, then followed by N1.1b for 2nd season (2024/25), N1.2b for 3rd season (2024/25) with a potential incremental value.
Nigerians can now watch the top-flight league from the comfort of their homes as a result of the Startimes broadcast deal.
This was confirmed during the contract signing ceremony in Abuja, with officials of Nigerian Premier League and Nigeria Football Federation in attendance at the Sharaton Hotel on Thursday.

According to NFF president Ibrahim Gusau, the broadcast deal is aimed at driving the interest of football fans in the country to the league over foreign football leagues like the English Premier League (EPL).
While explaining, NPFL chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye said two matches per week will be transmitted live for the first months as a test run for the broadcast.
With the N1.60bn 5-year deal with Startimes, the deal will start from Nov 18th, 2 games will be televised and from Feb 18, 2024, it will be 4 games for the next 2 years and then 8 matches for the next 3 years.
It will be noteworthy to know that the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) had initially turned down a sponsorship proposal from Chinese company StarTimes before the agreement was reached today.
