AFCON 2025 Qualifiers – The wait is finally over for African football fans as the stage is set for the qualifying rounds of the prestigious TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2025.
The official draw which held today Thursday in Johannesburg, South Africa, unveiled the exciting matchups that will see 48 national teams vying for a coveted spot in the final tournament.
Anticipation filled the air as football legends like Emerse Faé and Marouane Chamakh assisted in the draw, drawing the teams into groups that will determine their path to glory.
This crucial event marks the beginning of the journey for these African nations. The qualifiers promise to be a thrilling spectacle, showcasing the continent’s finest footballers battling it out for a chance to compete on the biggest stage.

Each team was determined to prove their mettle and secure their place in Morocco, where they will strive to be crowned champions of African football.
The engaged teams were grouped into four pots of 12.
The highest ranked nations as per the latest FIFA Rankings issued out on 20 June 2024 occupied Pot 1, as the same procedure was followed for Pot 2, 3 and 4 to make up the 48 nations.
The concluded draw of the qualifiers was then made up of 12 Groups of 4 teams (Group A to L), where the first and runners-up in the eleven (11) groups that do not involve tournament hosts Morocco gained qualification to the competition.
For teams that finish first and second in a group consisting of Morocco, who by virtue of being tournament hosts, they gained automatic qualification.

Group B: Morocco, Gabon,Central Africa Republic, Lesotho
Group C: Egypt, Cape Verde, Mauritania, Botswana
Group D: Nigeria, Benin Libya, Rwanda
Group E: Algeria, Equatorial Guinea, Togo, Liberia
Group F: Ghana, Angola, Sudan, Niger
Group G: Cote d’Ivoire, Zambia, Sierra Leone, Chad
Group H: DR Congo, Guinea, Tanzania, Ethiopia
Group I: Mali, Mozambique, Guinea Bissau, Eswatini
Group J: Cameroon, Namibia, Kenya, Zimbabwe
Group K: South Africa, Uganda, Congo, South Sudan
